BMW continues its
quest for excellence with its new 2001 5 Series Sedan, which
includes three models in its line up this year. With four
doors and a seating capacity of five passengers, any of the
BMW 525 i Sedan, 530 i Sedan, or 540 i Sedan models would
be an excellent choice for those demanding exceptional comfort
and specs to boot.
Under the hood,
the BMW 5 Series Sedans feature six cylinders, variable timing
DOHC, and impressive power for superb highway driving and
overall performance. The BMW 525 i hits 184 horsepower, the
530 i model takes it up to 225 horsepower, while the 540 i
flies away with 282 horsepower.
Standard transmission
is five-speed manual in the 525 i and 530 i, with optional
automatic transmission. The BMW 540 i is equipped with five-speed
automatic transmission. Drive type is two-wheel rear, racing
down the highways on all-season touring tires.
Safety features
include such standards as ABS brakes and traction control
for optimum maneuverability, and front fog lights to pierce
through adverse visibility conditions. As well, each model
is equipped with a driver side air bag, passenger side air
bag, side impact air bags, side head protection air bags,
and front head restraints. With the well being of children
in mind, BMW has installed child safety locks on every vehicle.
Luxuries cover
all the bases and range from air conditioning to cruise/speed
control, power door locks, dual power mirrors, and power windows.
A convenient keyless entry system is included, as is a theft
deterrent system for your peace of mind while away from the
vehicle.

an AM/FM stereo with CD player, a folding rear seat to increase
luggage capacity, a moonroof/sunroof, and leather seating.
In the BMW 540 i model, the moonroof/sunroof and soft leather
seating are a welcome standard.
