The attractive
new Mazda Protege Sedan storms the competition this year with
four models to offer from its line up, Protege DX, Protege
LX, Protege LX 2.0, and Protege ES 2.0. Each four-door vehicle
has a seating capacity of five passengers, and offer you more
standards and options than ever before in an efficient, economical
package.
Under the hood,
Each Protege Sedan features a four-cylinder engine with DOHC
and achieves 103 horsepower in the DX and LX models, while
the LX 2.0 and ES 2.0 take it up to 130 horsepower. Fuel consumption
is rated at 29/34 (city/hwy) at the DX and LX levels, and
25/31 (city/hwy) at the next step up.
Standard transmission
is five-speed manual, with automatic transmission available
as an option in all vehicles. Drive type is two-wheel front.
The Protege DX and LX sedans are equipped with all-season
radials, while the LX 2.0 and ES 2.0 sedans have been fitted
with all-season SBR tires.
Safety standards
in the Mazdfa Protege Sedan include a driver depowered air
bag, passenger depowered air bag, and both front and rear
head restraints. ABS brakes are available as an option in
the Mazda Protege LX 2.0 and ES 2.0 models, and the latter
comes with front fog lights as standard equipment for optimum
visibility. For the prevention of mishaps with younger passengers,
child safety locks have been installed on every vehicle.
Optional and standard
luxuries are numerous and include air conditioning, cruise/speed
control, a handy keyless entry system, power door locks, dual
power mirrors, and power windows. The rear seat conveniently
folds down to accommodate extra luggage or sports equipment
such as hockey sticks. Other amenities listed are an AM/FM
stereo with CD player, and a moonroof/sunroof.
