2002 Acura MDX Overview

Sophisticated on the outside, luxurious on the inside, and packed with performance under the hood. These are just some of the descriptives that can be used for the new 2002 Acura MDX Sport Utility, not to mention close attention to detail and safety.

Beginning with performance, the Acura MDX Sport Utility is equipped with standards such as a 3.5-litre, SOHC, variable-timing 24-valve engine that cranks out 240 horsepower and 245 lbs-ft of torque.

The braking system is comprised of ventilated front disc and solid rear disc brakes. Standard transmission is five-speed automatic, and each vehicle is fitted with all-season mud and snow SBR tires. Fuel economy checks in at 17/23 (city/hwy).

Comforts and conveniences seem endless; the Acura MDX sports front and rear automatic climate control, three rows of seating for eight passengers, and split folding middle and rear seats.

A power sliding moonroof is standard, as are power windows, power door locks, heated dual power outside mirrors, and rear privacy glass. The list continues with HomeLink remote control, eight-way power driver’s seat, keyless entry system, and heated front seats.

An AM/FM stereo with six-CD changer is available as a package, as is an eight-way power adjustable passenger’s seat. A roof rack is also offered in a package.

Finishing off with safety specifications, the Acura MDX Sport Utility is equipped with halogen headlights, ABS brakes, rear wiper, and three-point seatbelts at all seating positions.

In addition to front and rear crumple zones and side-impact door beams, the Acura MDX Sport Utility features a driver depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag, side impact air bags, and child safety seat anchors.

Each Acura is equipped with a theft deterrent system, including electronic immobilizer.
