2002 Dodge Durango
2002 Dodge Durango
Combines Capability, Value and "Right-Size"
Ingenuity to Deliver a Powerful Choice in the Truck-Based
Compact SUV Segment
The 2002 Dodge Durango stays true to the formula that
made it a runaway success when it was introduced in
1998. With its combination of full-size SUV roominess,
capability and performance and compact SUV packaging
and maneuverability, the right-size Dodge
Durango strikes the perfect balance.
The new 2002 Dodge Durango
SXT entry-level model combines all the great Durango
attributes with a host of standard features not normally
found on compact SUVs in its price class. Featuring
graphite front and rear fascias, grille and fender flares
(and optional running boards), CD player, bucket seats
and 16-inch aluminum wheels, Durango SXT is not your
typical entry-level vehicle.
The 2002 Dodge Durango
SXT joins the Sport, SLT, SLT Plus and R/T to offer
a wide range of content packages designed to meet the
varying needs of the compact SUV buyer.
Durango also receives
enhancements in safety, interior convenience and driver
enjoyment. New side-curtain air bags for the front and
second row seats add to its long list of safety and
security features.
The new 5-45RFE five-speed
automatic transmission (available mid-year) is an enhancement
on the popular 45RFE model and provides increased fuel
efficiency and quieter engine operation. The driver
and passengers will appreciate the standard AM/FM stereo
radio with cassette player and equalizer, while rear
seat passengers will enjoy the optional Mopar DVD Rear
Entertainment Center.
RIGHT-SIZE PACKAGE STRIKES
A CHORD IN THE SUV MARKET
The bold exterior styling may make Durangos first
impression, but the unique interior package leaves a
lasting image. Built to handle full-size needs with
compact dimensions, it is unique to the industry.
In its standard two-row
seating configuration, Durango offers comfortable seating
for up to five people and a spacious 88 cubic feet of
cargo carrying capacity. The third row seat (standard
on SLT, SLT Plus and R/T) allows it to carry up to eight
people. The third row can be conveniently accessed from
either side of the vehicle by a simple fold of the second
row fold-and-tumble seats.
The roof is raised behind
the driver seat to provide theater-style seating for
second- and third-row passengers. An available heat,
ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system for the
rear has independently adjustable vents for both the
second and third rows and a dedicated four-speed blower
for enhanced rear passenger comfort.
