2002 GMC Yukon:

Smart and tough, the handsome new 2002 GMC Yukon Sport Utility is an incredibly powerful vehicle that puts many of its competitors to shame. Not only does it pack a real punch, it is sensible and seats nine passengers in its well-appointed and spacious interior. Two four-door models are available - the GMC Yukon Sport Utility and the GMC Yukon 4WD Sport Utility.

The rugged GMC Yukon Sport Utility base model starts off with highly impressive performance specifications. Under the hood rumbles an eight-cylinder engine with center of vee camshaft and sequential port fuel injection system that cranks out 275 horsepower and 290 lbs-ft of torque.

Standard transmission is four-speed automatic, and each rear-wheel drive Yukon Sport Utility is equipped with all-terrain radial tires for an extra firm grip on the road. The towing capacity is 7800 lbs and the fuel economy rating is estimated at around 14/18 (city/hwy).

With all that power, it comes as no surprise that the Yukon Sport Utility is bolstered with ABS brakes, traction control, and front fog lights. Other standard safety features include front and rear head restraints, passenger depowered air bag, driver depowered air bag, and side impact air bags. Child safety locks have been installed in the rear of every vehicle.

Finishing up with comfort and convenience, the Yukon Sport Utility is graced with an AM/FM stereo with CD player for driving enjoyment, power windows, power door locks, dual power outside mirrors, and a folding rear seat for extra cargo.

The list continues with air conditioning, a handy keyless entry system, cruise control, limited slip differential, and a theft deterrent system to protect your vehicle and its contents. A moonroof/sunroof is offered as a pleasant option, and supple leather upholstery comes as a package.

Base invoice price: $29,205
Base list price: $33,377

The GMC Yukon 4WD Sport Utility is a mirror image of the previous model in every way, except that it provides the additional bonus of four-wheel on-demand drive for dealing aggressively with mud, snow, and challenging terrain. With 275 horsepower and 290 lbs-ft of torque behind it, this machine can really muscle through just about anything put in front of it. The towing capacity is increased to 8200 lbs.

Base invoice price: $31,421
Base list price: $35,910
