2002 Mazda Miata

The brave little Mazda Miata Convertible challenged the world with its sentimental look and feel. Its appearance has been slightly modernized over the years, but has the same zippy spirit of the original design.

Two distinctive and sporty models are on the market for the year 2002 - Mazda Miata S Convertible and Mazda Miata LS Convertible. Each of them has a seating capacity two passengers and has two-door entry.

The rear wheel drive Mazda Miata S Convertible makes the grade with a 1.8-litre DOHC 16-valve engine with multi-port fuel injection. The pleasant result is 142 horsepower - higher than models of past. Sport suspension is available as an option.

Other performance features include sport-tuned exhaust, four-wheel double wishbone suspension, and five-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Automatic transmission is available as an option. Each Mazda Miata S Convertible is equipped with fifteen-inch alloy wheels with locks.

One of the best characteristics is, of course, the black vinyl convertible top and boot cover. Cruise around with the top down, the AM/FM stereo with CD playing, and even switch on the air conditioning to spoil yourself if it gets too hot.

Other luxury and convenience items include an engine immobilizer, leather-wrapped steering, power mirrors, and power windows. A keyless entry system, rear spoiler, and cruise control are available as options or packages. A detachable hardtop is also an optional item.

As for safety, the Mazda Miata S Convertible features front fog lights, driver side air bag, passenger side air bag, and an optional perimeter alarm with shock sensor. An internal trunk release is also a standard.

Base invoice price: $TBA
Base list price: $21,660

Moving the package up to the next level, the Mazda Miata LS Convertible adds optional six-speed manual transmission for you performance buffs out there. The wheels are sixteen-inch alloy, upholstery fine leather, cruise control, keyless entry system, and power door locks. Limited slip differential is a standard, and ABS brakes are optional.

Base invoice price: $TBA
Base list price: $24,410
