2002 Nissan Xterra
The new 2002 Nissan Xterra Sport Utility gets a bit
of a face lift this year, and features some improved
interior luxuries and more power under the hood. The
Xterra Sport Utility has more of a truck-like feel to
it unlike some of its mild-mannered competitors, but
still maintains a classy look and feel while remaining
aggressive. With four models to choose from, the reliable
Nissan Xterra Sport Utility will tempt you to look no
further.
At the head of the line up, the Nissan Xterra XE Sport
Utility features a seating capacity of five passengers,
four doors, and an array of comforts and conveniences.
Standards include air conditioning, folding rear seat,
rear wiper, and an AM/FM stereo with CD player. Cruise
control, limited slip differential, keyless entry system,
power door locks, dual power mirrors, power windows,
and steering wheel tilt are all available as packages.
A look under the hood reveals a 2.4L four-cylinder
engine with DOHC and 143 horsepower. Standard transmission
is five-speed manual, and automatic is available as
an option. The fuel economy rating is estimated at 19/24
(city/hwy). The Xterra XE Sport Utility is a two-wheel
rear drive vehicle.
With safety in mind, Nissan has equipped this model
with ABS brakes, driver depowered air bag, passenger
depowered air bag, front and rear head restraints, and
child safety locks. Front fog lights are available as
a package.
Base invoice price: $16,740
Base list price: $17,999
Moving along to the Nissan Xterra XE 4WD, we step up
a notch to a 3.3L six-cylinder engine with SOHC, 170
horsepower, and 200 lbs-ft of torque. Contributing to
overall power and control is four-wheel on-demand drive.
Base invoice price: $19,716
Base list price: $21,199
The third model in the Nissan line up, the Xterra SE
Sport Utility, is a two-wheel rear drive machine but
adds to the package front fog lights, cruise control,
limited slip differential, keyless entry system, power
door locks, dual power mirrors, and power windows.
Other standards such as steering wheel tilt, a theft
deterrent system, premium sound system, and a beefed-up
super-charged 3.3L engine package with 210 horsepower
seal the deal for us. A moonroof is also available as
a package.
Base invoice price: $21,333
Base list price: $23,199
Finishing up the impressive line is the Nissan Xterra
SE 4WD Sport Utility, which adds the heightened performance
of four-wheel on-demand drive to the previous models
features.

Base list price: $25,199
