2002 Volkswagen Jetta

The new round of 2002 Volkswagen Jetta Sedans continues to impress its discerning followers with its extensive all-around quality and sophistication. Its solid European design and engineering leave the competition little room to move, and the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta carries with it a fair bit of status. Owning a Volkswagen Jetta is akin to owning a high-priced designer suit as opposed to a department store bargain. The quality, fit, and durability are simply superior.

This year, five models are offered: The 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GL Sedan, Volkswagen Jetta GLS Sedan, Volkswagen Jetta GL TDi Sedan, Volkswagen GLS 1.8T Sedan, and the 2992 Volkswagen Jetta GLS VR6 Sedan. Each of these 2002 models has a seating capacity of five passengers, and has four doors making it a convenient choice for those with busy lives.

Beginning with the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GL Sedan safety features, standards such as driver side air bag, passenger side air bag, side impact air bags, and both front and rear head restraints are included. Other important items that come with the base Volkswagen Jetta model package are ABS brakes for maximum control, and child safety locks for those with youngsters in the rear of the vehicle.

Under the hood, the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GL Sedan is built with a four-cylinder engine with SOHC, 115 horsepower, and 122 lbs-ft of torque. It accelerates well, especially with the five-speed transmission. Automatic transmission is available as an option, and is responsive on the highways as well. The fuel economy rating is estimated to be 24/31 (city/hwy). Each vehicle is front wheel drive.

In the luxury department, the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GL Sedan is loaded with amenities like air conditioning, a handy keyless entry system, power door locks, and a theft deterrent system. The AM/FM stereo with CD player is a dealer-installed option. The rear seat folds down to accommodate your extra luggage, groceries, and sports equipement that won’t fit in the trunk normally.

Base invoice price: $15,364
Base list price: $16,850

The second model, the Volkswagen Jetta GLS Sedan, takes the features of the entry-level model and makes the addition of power windows, cruise control, and power door locks. Packages include leather upholstery or a moonroof/sunroof.

Base invoice price: $16,312
Base list price: $17,900

Moving on to the Jetta GL TDi Sedan, features a switch to a turbo diesel SOHC with 90 horsepower and 155 lbs-ft of torque and an incredible savings due to the fuel economy rating of 42/49 (city/hwy). As well, Volkswagen has added traction control to the package.

Base invoice price: $16,902
Base list price: $18,145

At the higrst end of the 2002 line up, the GLS 1.8T Sedan features an upgrade to the engine, which uses turbo gas and subsequently boosts the performance to 180 horsepower with 174 lbs-ft of torque.

Base invoice price: $17,803
Base list price: $19,550

Finishing up the models is the GLS VR6, with a six-cylinder engine with DOHC, 174 horsepower, and 181 lbs-ft of torque. Packed with all of the safety and luxury features of the previous four models, the Jetta GLS VR6 is a terrific value that adds limited slip differential.
