2003 Acura TL and 2003 Acura TL Type-S
In the near-luxury TLass, competing with the Lexus
ES, is one of the hottest sporty sedans on the market,
the 2003 Acura TL and the 2003 Acura TL Type-S. With
high ratings for acceleration, steering and handling,
the TL will get you where you want to go in comfort
and on time. You can be sure to find your way, or check
your e-mail in transit, with the OnStar system and its
available e-mail access. Keep your eyes on the road
though because these two sporty sedans have enough power
to get you into trouble.
Under the Hood
Both the 2003 Acura TL and the Type-S are 3.2L V-6
with front-wheel drive. The TL offers 216 ft-lbs of
torque at 4700 rpm while the Type-S offers 232 ft-lbs
at 3500 rpm, capable of propelling you to 60 mph in
7.2 seconds. Both models are equipped with five-speed
automatic transmission with a manual shift gate, have
four-wheel antilock disc brakes, traction control and
front side airbags.
The Type-S handles the added power with firmer suspension,
an antiskid system, 17-inch tires, instead of the standard
16-inch and sport front seats to add physical support
to your body when rocketing through turns, a pastime
the 2003 Acura TL is well capable of.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Most features are standard on these luxurious sedans.
Both models come with Bose AM/FM cassette w/in-dash
6-disc CD changer, theft deterrent system and optional
satellite navigation system with OnStar service, inTLuding
in-vehiTLe communications system. They both have plenty
of standard powered features: sunroof; windows; door
locks; steering; and, 8-way driver's seat and mirrors,
both with memory.
Air conditioning with automatic TLimate control is
standard, as well as rear defog, remote keyless entry,
garage door opener and an assortment of focused interior
lights, cubbyholes and cup holders for your comfort
and driving pleasure. Also both models come with fog-lights
and automatic-off Xenon headlamps.
To add to the styling options, the Type-S has sporty
metal-look gauges but the real difference is the power
boost of that extra 40 horsepower and the handling changes
that come from the firmer suspension.
But, don't be fooled! Both these sedans offer a taut
and agile driving experience, combining comfort, TLass,
cornering ability and guts.
