BMW 5-Series: 525i, 525iT and 530
The BMW 5-Series has three models with 6-cylinder engines,
2003 BMW 525i sedan, 2003 BMW 525iT wagon and the 2003
BMW 530, the only member of this class with a 3.0-liter
powerplant. These are sedans designed to challenge the
drivers, hugging the road and offering, through the
high level of performance that they achieve. Daring
their drivers to push them to the limits they are capable
of.
The 5-Series is a mid- luxury car series aimed at a
successful professional demographic but the range of
engine sizes, models and capabilities means the common
ground ends there. All types of people are interested
in and compatible with these luxurious, agile and reliable
cars. They are also designed with safety in mind, and
are all equipped with some of the highest standard safety
levels in the market.
The classic BMW lines make a statement about class
and character and the 5-Series is a proud and credible
member of the luxury car class.
Under the Hood
The BMW 525i and 525iT are equipped with V6 that produces
184 hp at 5500 rpm and 175 lb-ft of torque at 3500.
It can be equipped with either a 5-speed manual or a
5-speed automatic transmission and it is capable of
20/29 mpg (city/hwy).
BMW displays advanced performance and control technology
and much of it is in place on the 5-Series cars. These
V6 models, even the wagon, behave like sports cars,
hugging the road with a vice like grip and sweeping
through turns with minimal body lean.
Traction control, an antiskid system and 4-wheel antilock
disc brakes with brake assist comprise the preventative
system but the story doesn't stop there. Extensive passive
safety innovations add advanced airbag and seatbelt
technology. This includes 3-point seatbelts front and
back and numerous standard airbags including dual front,
front side, head protection front side and optional
rear torso side airbags.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
Stepping up to the 5-Series means more standard interior
amenities than those found in the 3-Series. Air conditioning
with dual-zone automatic climate control, vinyl upholstery
on 10-way power front bucket and rear split-fold bench
seats, heated power mirrors and much more make up the
standard offerings on the 5-Series.
Additional items include stand-alone details like wood
trim, rain-sensing wipers, an automatic day/night rearview
mirror or upgraded seats. Major options packages offer
value through comprehensive and tailored sets of useful
features. These include performance, appearance and
internal electronics packages.
