2003 Ford ZX2 reviews and buying guide.

2003 Ford ZX2 resources:

2003 Ford ZX2

The low-cost car of the Ford line, the 2003 Ford ZX2 was designed to enable those with smaller budgets and price limits to afford a quality-built Ford vehicle. This sporty coupe 2-door has front-wheel drive, a good assortment of basic features, a choice of three different models and the usual assortment of Ford compatible add-ons that will satisfy a persons desire for originality or specific enhancement.

This Coupe is easy to buy, economical to run in terms of fuel economy and, with 135 hp, is no slouch either. In general, the ZX2 is the car to buy if you need a basic quality mover to get from a to b. It is designed to be particularly valuable as a commuter vehicle but it carries four adult passengers comfortably and has trunk room for the groceries, briefcase, or sports bag so it can also be the family car.

Under the Hood

The Ford ZX2 has a single engine choice, the aforementioned 4-cyl 2.0-liter. This fuel efficient motor puts out 130 hp at 5300 rpm and 135 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm. A choice of transmissions gets either 26/33 mpg (city/hwy) (5-speed manual) or 25/33 mpg (4-speed automatic).

Surprisingly, dual front airbags and a rear spoiler are installed equipment on even the base Standard ZX2. Also included for safety at this level is an emergency interior trunk release, alloy wheels and 180/60R15 tires.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

As a "low-cost" vehicle, the ZX2 is surprisingly well appointed with interior features. The ZX2 Standard comes with front bucket seats with cloth upholstery, a split-folding rear seat, power steering and power mirrors. Also included is an AM/FM/cassette player, variable-intermittent wipers and a rear defogger.

The ZX2 Deluxe is a step up with cruise control, air conditioning, tilt-leather-wrapped steering wheel, mats and map lights and finally, an AM/FM/CD player.

The top of the ZX2 line, the Premium, adds some more great features, with power windows and door locks and remote keyless entry. Fog lights add an exterior touch of added value as well.

Optional add-ons available on the ZX2 include a variety of major individual options. For example, antilock brakes are available, along with leather upholstery, a power sunroof and more.
