2003 GMC Safari
With eight-passenger seating and space left over in
the trunk, the GMC Safari is constructed for families
with maximum transportation needs. For those people
who also require added power to haul their wares, the
Safari boasts the ability to tow up to 5,400 pounds.
There isn't any fooling around with the Safari - owners
can expect dependability and steady performance from
this minivan. With enhanced safety features, attractively
priced entry-level models and a new world class braking
system, 2003 sees the Safari loaded with upgrades.
The Safari is offered with either two-wheel, rear-wheel
drive or all-wheel drive. Three models are available
from which to choose: base, SLE and SLT. With its nice
mix of performance, security and comfort, the Safari
passenger models are more than capable of handling diverse
and demanding family requirements.
Under the Hood
The standard engine across all Safari passenger models
is a Vortec 4.3-liter V6 with 190 horsepower at 4400rpm
and 250lb-ft of torque at 2800rpm, giving the minivan
the strength to carry a large amount of people and still
get up to speed. The standard transmission is a 4-speed
Hydra-Matic 4L60-E system. Safari protects its passengers
and cargo with standard driver and front passenger air
bags, child security sliding door, battery rundown protection,
and the PASSLock theft-deterrent system.
The new-and-improved braking configuration on the Safari
really sets it apart. It is a four-wheel power disc,
four-wheel antilock brake system with a highly responsive
HydroBoost hydraulic assist power brake booster, providing
quicker, more controlled stops and additional safety
alerts. The brakes have been upgraded for better pedal
feel, including reduced pedal effort and travel, and
quieter operation
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The cabins of Safari models are both safe and comfortable.
All models feature energy-absorbing foam attached behind
trim panels, moldings, the headliner and all other vital
areas to protect occupants from head injuries. On top
of that safety, the interiors of each of the three Safari
models come equipped with a nice number of features.
The base model covers the essentials, while the SLT
goes the extra distance with a greater number of goods.
The ability to order options individually rather than
in packages further adds to the appeal of the GMC Safari.
This way customers can tailor their minivans to their
own unique needs. Some of the features that are available
are leather upholstery and heavy-duty trailering equipment.
The GMC Safari - it goes about its business efficiently,
so you can do the same.
