2003 Kia Rio reviews and buying guide.

2003 Kia Rio resources:

2003 Kia Rio

The Kia Rio is priced below many older used cars, but is as modern as they come. An exceptional value, the Rio is solidly constructed to address performance and safety, while ensuring durability as well. In fact, manufacturers are so confident in the Rio's engineering that they provide a 10 Year / 100,000 Mile Warranty Program. In other words, the Rio is not going to be in and out of the shop every month.

The 2003 Rio comes in two distinct body styles. There is a Rio Sedan and a Rio Cinco, which is in effect a wagon. Both seat five passengers without a problem. One of the most inexpensive cars on the market, the Rio is perfect for small families on a budget.

Under the Hood

The Rio is capable and efficient. The engine under the hood of both the Sedan and Cinco is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder model that provides 104 horsepower. 5-speed manual transmission and 4-speed automatic transmission are both available. Part of the Rio's value lies in its fuel economy, as manuals get a rating of 26/33 mpg (city/hwy) and automatics 25/32 (city/hwy).

Independent MacPherson strut front suspension and stabilizer bars are standard for a smooth and quiet ride. Dual front airbags, child restraint anchors and door locks, side-impact door beams, front and rear crumple zones, impact absorbing steering column and internal emergency trunk release thoroughly address safety. Antilock brakes are optional.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

Along with its hatchback body, the Cinco also offers more standard features. The Sedan comes with manual steering, cloth upholstery, front bucket seats with a height-adjustable driver seat, a center console, cupholders, a rear defogger, variable-intermittent wipers and automatic-off headlights. To that list the Cinco adds power steering, a tilt steering wheel, a split folding rear seat, an AM/FM/CD player, a tachometer, visor mirrors, map lights and a rear wiper/washer.

An Upgrade Package gives Sedan owners the option to deck out their vehicles in the same fashion as the Cinco. Additional options are provided to address safety, style and comfort.

There are few cars on the road that will perform at the price tag of the 2003 Kia Rio.
