2003 Nissan Sentra
The Nissan Sentra is one of the most dependable and
versatile cars on the road today. It will last forever
and perform, without hassle, time and time again. Perhaps
this exceptional blend of character has to do with its
international flavor, as the Sentra draws its design
themes from around the world. It features an exterior
styled in California, an interior inspired in Germany
and engineering in Japan, California, Michigan and Arizona.
For 2003, the Sentra is available in a new Limited
Edition model. It features an abundance of power, a
unique exterior look and side-impact supplemental airbags.
The Limited Edition joins the XE, GXE and SE-R trim
levels. All have four doors and seat five, but the SE-R
features such a differentiating level of appointments
that it warrants a separate review.
Under the Hood
The Nissan Sentra has always provided a proven set
of performance features and durability most sedans can
only dream of. XE and GXE models have a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder
engine that delivers 126 horsepower. The Limited Edition
has more kick with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with
165 horsepower. XE and GXE models come with 5-speed
manual transmission, though 4-speed automatic is available.
Their 1.8-liter engine provides an estimated 28/36 mpg
(city/hwy) for the manual transmission and 28/35 mpg
(city/hwy) for the 4-speed automatic. Limited Edition
models come with 4-speed automatic standard, getting
23/28 mpg (city/hwy).
The 2003 Nissan Sentra's suspension utilizes a front
independent MacPherson strut setup combined with Nissan's
innovative rear Multi-Link Beam design. Sentra's excellent
road manners come from its front subframe, soft bushings,
excellent steering and body construction. For safety,
dual front airbags are standard across the line, while
in addition to side airbags the Limited Edition also
has antilock 4-wheel disc brakes.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
One standard features that defines the Nissan Sentra
is its almost excessive value. No one will deny that.
Another thing that is undeniable is the rewarding interior
environment of the Sentra, which offers excellent front
and rear headroom and legroom and a total interior volume
100.1 cubic feet. In terms of standard features, entry-level
XE models have power steering, a tilt steering wheel,
cloth upholstery, a center console, cupholders, a rear
defogger and more, while GXE models add air conditioning,
a height-adjustable driver seat, power mirrors, windows
and door locks, remote keyless entry, an AM/FM/CD player,
a digital clock and then some.
The new, top-line Limited Edition takes the interior
of the GXE and throws in cruise control and a leather-wrapped
steering wheel. Options can be added alone or in packages,
depending on how customers want their Sentras to look
for the next decade or so.
