Pontiac Montana resources:
2003 Pontiac Montana
The 2003 Pontiac Montana is offered in a number of
different configurations, featuring either two-wheel
drive or all-wheel drive. In addition to the versatility
of handling options, there are also two sizes to choose
from: regular 112-inch wheelbase and extended 121-inch
wheelbase. The base Super Value model has a very attractive
price for 2003, further adding to the appeal of this
dependable minivan. Though the name may highlight its
affordability, the Value model lacks none of the essentials
required in a vehicle. With seven-passenger seating
in either regular wheelbase size or extended wheelbase
size for a more spacious interior, the Value model is
perfect for busy families on a budget. Other models
include the Extended Wheelbase model and All-Wheel Drive
model (also with extended wheelbase). These uplevel
models add a little more comfort to the ride, as well
as available eight-passenger seating.
Under the Hood
All 2003 Montanas come with a steady 3.4-liter V6 engine
with 185 horsepower, perfectly equipped for the demands
a full-time minivan can be put under. Rack-and-pinion
steering translates into smooth handling capability,
while a stable suspension system featuring front MacPherson
struts with coil springs keeps the ride level. All models
have 4-speed automatic transmission and a fuel economy
of 19/26 mpg (city/highway).
Dual front airbags are standard across all models.
The Value models have power assisted front disc, rear
drum brakes, while the Extended Wheelbase and AWD models
provide antilock brakes. With the AWD model, the sophisticated
Versatrak system is standard, providing greater traction
control in difficult conditions.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The manufacturers of the 2003 Montana recognize that
not everyone wants complete packages stacked full of
options they may not desire, and for this reason buyers
are given more freedom of choice in equipping their
vehicles. Popular features are now available as free-flow,
allowing customers to choose the features that are important
to them. What comes standard are all the basics. The
Value model features an integral child seat, air conditioning,
cruise control, programmable power door locks, AM/FM
stereo with an in-dash CD player and carpeted front
and rear floor mats. The Extended Wheelbase and AWD
models simply add more standards to the pile.
Introduced for the 2002 model year, the Thunder Sport
appearance package returns for 2003. It's available
on extended wheelbase models (excluding the Special
Value model) and consists of 16-inch chrome wheels,
P225/60R16 tires, rear spoiler and special "Thunder"
badging. The Thunder Package also addresses the interior,
providing unique two-tone leather upholstery.
With all sorts of variety heaped on top of a solid
design, the 2003 Pontiac Montana is an attractive contender
in the minivan market.
