2003 Suzuki Aerio
The 2003 Suzuki Aerio is a powerful and versatile entry
to the subcompact class. There are three models, the
S and GS Sedans and the SX Wagon. All-Wheel Drive is
optional on the GS Sedan and the Wagon and so, the Aerio
shopper has some choices to make. The standard front-wheel
drive transmission nevertheless provides good traction
and fuel economy.
A 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission
is available, both of which offer better than 30mpg
on the highway. The Aerio has good cargo carrying capacity,
a stylish modern look designed to appeal to younger
people who want to accommodate adventurous lives but
can't justify the SUV because of size, cost and fuel
economy. With AWD and an extensive collection of interior
amenities, the Aerio will continue to achieve commercial
success.
Under the Hood
Whether you go for a Sedan or Wagon, the Aerio offers
the same powerful engine. One of the leaders in the
subcompact class, this 2-liter 4-cyl has 145 hp and
136lb-ft of torque. As mentioned earlier, it gets great
mileage with rates of 26/31 mpg (city/hwy).
All Aerio models have dual-front airbags and emergency
inside trunk release and daytime running lights. A rear
spoiler adds some rakish style to the GS sedan, as do
the fog lights, 195/55R15 tires and the alloy wheels.
Antilock brakes is available as an option on the GS
and SX.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The Aerio has a two trim levels, the up-level GS features
are all found on the SX and a couple of things are added
that are specific to a wagon, specifically rear-window
wiper/washer and a cargo cover.
The S edition comes with air conditioning, tilt power
steering, power windows and mirrors, cloth upholstery
on front bucket seats and a rear split-folding bench
seat, and an AM/FM/CD player. In addition, a tachometer,
visor mirrors and other small details commonly not found
on base trim-levels, are standard on this and all other
Suzuki Aerio models.
On the GS edition, cruise control, a height adjustable
driver seat and power
door locks add to the value along with an in-dash 6CD
changer, remote keyless entry, map lights and variable
intermittent wipers.
The Aerio equals good value with all basic needs satisfied
in a package that includes a great deal of choice and
a reasonably powerful engine.
