Used 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier
Buying Guide for the Chevrolet Cavalier:
The spunky Cavalier has a new style, a new set of options
and more safety features than ever before. 2004 truly sees
a marked upgrade to this subcompact car, as Chevrolet continues
to build on its past success. The new Cavalier achieves a
previously unseen level of safety by offering a center rear
three-point seat belt and optional front driver and passenger
seat-mounted torso airbags with thorax protection.
The OnStar system continues to be an option for 2004 LS and
LS Sport models. Using the Global Positioning System (GPS)
satellite network and wireless technology, OnStar services
include automatic notification of airbag deployment, roadside
assistance, convenience services and much more. OnStar Personal
Calling allows drivers to make and receive hands-free, voice-activated
phone calls, while Virtual Advisor gives subscribers access
to personalized information in a hands-free, voice-activated
manner with no screens or displays.
Under the Hood
Each of the three 2004 Cavalier models (base, LS and LS Sport)
receive the same engine. It is a 2.2-liter, Ecotec 4-cylinder
model with 140 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 150 lb-ft of torque
at 4000 rpm.
This engine is mated to either standard 5-speed manual transmission
or optional 4-speed automatic. Manuals have a fuel rating
of 25/33 mpg (city/highway), while automatics receive a rating
of 24/32 mpg (city/highway).
An FE2 sport suspension system, on both LS models, provides
excellent handling and road feel. It creates flatter, more
precise cornering, more driver feedback, and better communication
between car and driver. It also features front and rear sway
bars, which provide a more rigid ride.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The Cavalier is known to be one of the sportier vehicles
in the Chevrolet lineup. Freshened up a year ago and given
a few new front and rear end tweeks, the 2004 Cavalier also
offers chrome aluminum wheels, specific body-color door handles,
body-color exterior mirror housings for the power mirrors,
a leather-wrapped transmission shift knob and steering wheel
and a high profile rear spoiler.
For the young people who like to rock out on the road, the
2004 Cavalier offers an optional CD/MP3 music player that
can handle all forms of media. If that’s not enough, there’s
always XM satellite radio, which provides 100 coast-to-coast
quality digital radio channels.
