Used 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Buying Guide for the Chevrolet Monte Carlo:
The big news for the coupe counterpart of the Impala sedan
is the introduction of a new Supercharged SS model. It joins
the LS and SS trims, adding a whole new dose of excitement
to the 2004 Monte Carlo lineup. Based on the Monte Carlo’s
wildly successful NASCAR Winston Cup relative, the new Supercharged
SS lets you take a racecar onto the streets.
The new Supercharged SS merely adds to the package that has
defined the Monte Carlo road car for years. Inspired aerodynamic
styling, comprehensive safety features, a spacious interior
and a track record of outstanding quality, reliability and
durability—this is what owners have come to expect from the
Monte Carlo.
Under the Hood
Base LS models are equipped with a 3.4-liter V6 engine that
generates 180 horsepower and 205 lb-ft of torque. Uplevel
SS models have a 3.8-liter Series II V6 with 200 horsepower
and 225 lb-ft of torque. All 2004 Monte Carlos have 4-speed
automatic transmission.
The engine under the hood of the new Supercharged SS is a
3.8-liter supercharged Series II V6. It cranks out 240 horsepower
and 280 lb-ft of torque. It also features a compact, 90-cubic-inch
supercharger that helps deliver power in a smooth, linear
fashion by adding boost at predetermined points along the
power curve
Chassis and suspension enhancements give the Supercharged
SS an extremely smooth and functional ride. It has four-wheel
independent suspension with MacPherson struts at all four
corners, power rack-and-pinion steering, electronic traction
control and large-diameter four-wheel disc power-assisted
braking with ABS.
Standard Features, Options Packages and Style
The new Monte Carlo Supercharged SS is not afraid to stand
out from the pack. With a race-inspired spoiler and dual bright
stainless-steel exhaust tips, it always catches the eye. Inside,
it has a six-gauge cluster with boost gauge, full door-width
kick plates featuring the Monte Carlo nameplate and "Supercharged
SS" badging.
Improvements to the entire 2004 Monte Carlo lineup redesigned
heating/ventilation controls on the front dash. New sport
appearance packages for both the LS and SS models further
spice things up. And as always, the Monte Carlo continues
to have as much as 7 more cubic feet of interior room than
any non-GM competitor in its class.
Some of the available options include the OnStar system,
leather upholstery and a side-impact airbag.
