Used 2004 Honda Civic

There aren’t too many models on the road today that can boast the diversity and success of the Honda Civic. Simply put, it is an enormously popular vehicle. The reasons are many, but they generally all boil down to one point: value.

The Civic nation features powertrains that keep going and going and going. 200,000 miles on a Civic isn’t news at all—in fact, it’s expected. That’s why they have such devoted fans, as well as high resale values. And that’s why they get ‘Best Buy’ status from independent arbiters like Consumer Guide.

2004 Civics have a new look that ushers in the modern age. They come in coupe and sedan forms, with four different trim levels available: DX, VP (added midyear), LX and EX. The features have been upgraded as well, making this year’s Civic the best ever.

Under the Hood

Two long-lasting inline 4-cylinder engines allow the Civic to drive for decades. All but the top-line EX use a 1.7-liter I4 with 115 horsepower and 110 lb-ft of torque. 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions are both offered. The fuel ratings are, as usual, very impressive: 32/38 mpg (city/highway) for manuals, 29/38 mpg for automatics.

The refined EX model is also equipped with a 1.7-liter I4 engine. However, it produces 127 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. And like all Civics, it has a very pocketbook-friendly fuel rating with both transmission types.

The 2004 Civic uses a control-link MacPherson strut front suspension system and a reactive-link double wishbone rear suspension. Antilock brakes are part of the EX model’s standard package.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

Both two-door coupes and four-door sedans can seat five passengers, with almost the same amount of cargo volume. The trunk is big enough to handle things like guitars and golf clubs, with room left over for other items.

The 2004 Civic was given a new style to keep up with the ever-changing demands of consume culture. All models feature new front and rear bumpers, new headlights and a body-colored grille.

As Honda’s entry-level car, the Civic doesn’t come loaded with too many standard features. It covers the necessities. Top-line EX models include such things as an AM/FM/CD player, cruise control, power mirrors, windows and door locks, a power sunroof and alloy wheels.
