Used 2004 Honda S2000

With a push of the start button, the Honda S2000 fires on its revamped 240-horsepower engine. After a quick check, you put the car into gear and it’s time to take off. A twisting highway or a smooth country road would be nice places to go to see what the S2000 has to offer.

Basically, what the S2000 offers is speed, power, handling and interior comfort. It is not built to carry cargo, tow boats or carpool soccer teams. It is a sports car, and it is appointed like one. The interior cockpit is designed around the driver, the exterior style is aggressive and bold and the performance readily visible.

One other major point about the S2000: it is a convertible, adding the thrill of open-air driving to the mix. The setup includes a power soft top with a glass rear window and an electric defroster.

Under the Hood

Sports cars allow engineers to let their imaginations go. At Honda, it gives them a break from producing supremely reliable, long-lasting models to rev things up a bit.

The engine they chose for the 2004 S2000 is a new 2.2-liter VTEC inline 4-cylinder model. It gives the rear-wheel drive roadster better efficiency, greater combustion and more power for 2004, specifically in the area of torque production. The complete results: 240 horsepower at 7800 rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque at 7500 rpm.

The S2000’s engine is located entirely behind the front-axle centerline. This creates a sharper steering response and more cornering precision. With the lower overall gear ratios for 2004, the new S2000 is more capable than ever.

Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are needed to keep the speedster under control. Other features include a short-throw 6-speed manual transmission shifter, torque-sensing limited-slip differential and dual exhaust outlets.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

The S2000 is a two-seater. Its instrument panel comes in digital form and it includes a clock, tachometer, trip meter and fuel and coolant gauges.

The seats are trimmed in decadent leather. On the outside, 16-inch alloy wheels look good and come to work every day.

Other standard features for 2004 include air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, bucket seats, a center console with storage lock, power mirrors, windows and door locks, remote keyless entry and an AM/FM/CD player.
