Used 2004 Toyota Corolla

Buying Guide for the Toyota Corolla:

The Corolla and archrival Honda Civic have virtually cornered the small car market between them, both resting upon outstanding reputations of quality and durability. Add to that respectable price tags, and it’s not hard to see why they are such favorites.

For 2004, the Toyota Corolla continues to provide what it always has—safety, dependability and versatility—but with a modern touch. Though the three-model lineup doesn’t feature any radical changes, there is still enough there to keep buyers coming back for more.

Under the Hood

The Corolla will never be confused with a sports car. It is meant to start up again and again, year after year, and perform with a steady assurance. The engine responsible for this is a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder model with 130 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 125 lb-ft of torque at 4200 rpm.

Both 4-speed automatic transmission and 5-speed manual are available. The 2004 Corolla continues to help the environment and spare the pocket book with its gas mileage. Automatics get an estimated 29/38 mpg (city/highway), while manuals do even better with a 32/40 mpg (city/highway) rating.

Power assisted rack-and-pinion steering lets drivers maneuver the 2004 Corolla without much effort. The front-wheel drive Corolla also benefits from independent front and rear suspension.

Standard Features, Options Packages and Style

While not the biggest car out there, the 2004 Toyota Corolla certainly isn’t stuffy on the inside—unless you’re a professional basketball player, that is. For more space, the 60/40 split rear seat folds down to accommodate large items.

Each of the three model trims—CE, S and LE—has its own personality. The entry-level CE covers the basics with air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD player and more. S models are the sporty ones, featuring a silhouette sport speedometer, a unique sport interior and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The LE is the top-line trim, with available leather-trimmed seats and wood-grain interior just part of the package.

There are a multitude of options available with the 2004 Toyota Corolla. For safety, antilock brakes and front side airbags can be had, while S and LE models can also turn things up with a bolstered sound system.
