What 2019 Chevrolet Suburban Trim Level Should you Buy? What is the Difference Between Trims?

The 2019 Suburban is a large vehicle. It makes no efforts to have people think otherwise. It is so big, in fact, that it has one of the largest cargo capacities available in any category. It also offers this cargo space standard with every vehicle. Many rivals require buyers to upgrade trim levels to get the standard cargo space in the Suburban. For drivers who have no problem maneuvering a large vehicle like the Suburban it makes a economical choice in the category and can also be upgraded to near luxury level conveniences.

There are only three trim levels available for the Suburban. The LS is the base trim, then there is the LT and finally the Premier. The available options and packages are numerous, so many buyers will want to research the Suburban to gain a little insight. This review is a good start as it lays out all the different combinations of features available at each trim level.

Compare the 2019 Suburban LS vs LT. What is the difference?

The LS comes with a multitude of standard features. The vehicle is equipped with three rows of seating and seats up to eight passengers with two front seats and two rows of bench seats. The seats are large and offer lots of room for passengers. The seating is available in either Dune premium cloth or Jet Black premium cloth with complementing accents. The LS makes good sense for buyers that have a large family. It offers a lot of space and good standard features at a reasonable price. Moving on to the LT, the Suburban gets more luxurious.

The LS is the only trim level that offers cloth seating. Once buyers move up to the LT and Premier Package the seating is leather. The LT offers an additional interior color scheme with Dark Ash leather seats. The driver and front passenger seats are heated and features power adjustments and lumbar support.

The LT also offers additional second row seating options. Buyers can get the bench seat or opt for two bucket seats for the second row. Both the bench seat and bucket seats can include power release capabilities.

The LT has some significant upgrades compared to the LS. The LT boasts a better sound system with a nine speakers from Bose. It also has a standard programmable power lift gate and auto dimming rear view mirror. The LT also includes a universal home remote.

As far as driver assistance technology, the LT comes equipped with all the features of the LS' Enhanced Driver Alert Package. The LT also offers a robust additional package for an added fee. Compare the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban LT vs Premier Trims. What is the difference?

The LT offers standard leather seating and multiple appearance packages, but the top level Premier trim level adds even more exciting features.

The Premier is the only trim level that offers the 6.2 liter EcoTec V8. The larger engine cranks out 420 horsepower and comes paired with a ten speed automatic transmission. The base engine is standard on the Premier, but buyers can upgrade to the hefty 6.2 liter V8 for around $5,400. Each Suburban Premier is equipped with a magnetic ride control suspension.

The Premier also comes with a lot of the features that are upgrades on the LT. The Premier includes all of the features included in the Luxury Package for the LT.

The Premier also adds some nifty features not available in the LT trim. The Premier features an exclusive Mahogany leather interior for an extra fee. The front seats are both heated and ventilated, and the second row of seats is heated. Both rear rows of seats feature power release capabilities.

The Premier also has an upgraded appearance with foglamps and HID headlights. The wheels are 20" polished aluminum. It also offers keyless entry.

The Premier even has a more advanced audio system. The Bose Centerpoint surround sound system features ten speakers. The Premier also adds more charging outlets and wireless mobile device charging.

Available upgrades for the Premier include the Sun, Entertainment and Destinations Package and the RST Appearance Package.

There is also one additional package available for the Premier. The Premier Plus Edition comes with a heads up display, 22 inch aluminum wheels and power retractable assist steps. This package also includes the larger engine and 10 speed automatic transmission.

Final Thoughts

Most buyers will find that the difference in price between the LS and the LT is significant. The LS is about $5,000 less than the LT and is very well equipped. It offers a sensible choice for buyers looking to forgo the added luxury. The LS can be upgraded to four wheel drive for a moderate price as well. The LS also offers access to the Advanced Driver Alert Package for just around $650 more. The LS makes a great choice for a large family vehicle. It has plenty of advanced features like built in 4G Hotspot and standard eight inch touch screen.

Buyers looking for the added capability of the 6.2 liter V8 will have to come up with quite a bit of additional money to do so. The Premier is the only trim level that offers the bigger engine, and the starting price is considerably more than the LS or even the LT. The larger engine doesn't really make an economical choice for most buyers. While it may be nice to have the added power under the hood, it just isn't much of a value. Buyers looking to buy a luxury minded Suburban are better off sticking to the Premier with the smaller engine.
