INFINITI Edition 30
The year 2020 will mark the 30th anniversary of the INFINITI brand. The company is celebrating this milestone with Edition 30 models for each of their vehicles. All three Q60 trim levels will feature Edition 30 badges. All models will be equipped with some of the technologies that INFINITI helped to create throughout the years.
The 2020 version of the Q60 is largely the same as the previous year's model. The infotainment system is getting a notable upgrade this year. It will finally feature compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Compare the 2020 INFINITI Q60 PURE vs LUXE Trims. What is the difference?
The PURE trim package is the base-level model for the 2020 INFINITI Q60. Just like all of the trim levels, it can be had in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. All versions of the Q60 are 2-door coupes that can seat up to four people.
The PURE trim is powered by a twin-turbo V-6 engine. This 3.0-liter engine has 24 valves and an aluminum-alloy block and heads. It also features a water-cooled air-charging system. This base-model engine produces 300 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque for excellent acceleration.
The PURE trim comes stock with a seven-speed, automatic transmission. The transmission system is electronically controlled and also offers a manual-shift mode. Dual transmission-fluid coolers keep things running smoothly. This trim also has Adaptive Cruise Control and Hill-Start Assist.
The transmission system works in tandem with the INFINITI Drive Mode Selector. This gives drivers the choice of five different modes. Each mode alters how the automatic shifting performs. There's a Standard Mode as well as an Eco Mode to save on fuel. The Snow Mode will help on snowy or slick pavement. Two Sport Modes allow for fast acceleration, and a Personal Mode allows for customization.
On the outside of the PURE Q60 is a set of 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. These have a five-spoke design and are equipped with a set of all-season, run-flat tires. That means that in the event of a flat, drivers should be able to get home or at least to a safe spot. The PURE and LUXE trims both come with the exact same wheels and tires.
Both trim levels offer rack electric steering. The steering dynamics are further enhanced by a system called Active Trace Control. When it comes to the suspension systems, both of these trim levels are once again identical. Up front, there are independent, double-wishbone shocks with Dual Flow Path shock absorbers and a stabilizer bar. Both trims come with the same ABS disc brakes on all four wheels. Both have LED headlights and rear brake lights. They also offer daytime running lights for better visibility. Both offer front LED fog lights as well. The front door handles even have courtesy lights to help drivers to better see them at night.
INFINITI uses solar glass in all of the Q60 models. This reduces the amount of UV rays that get in and reach the occupants. The PURE and LUXE trims get heated exterior mirrors to ensure safe viewing in the winter. There is also a rear-window defroster with a timer and an indicator light to let drivers know it's engaged.
Dual-chrome exhaust finishers can be found on both models. Intermittent, speed-sensitive windshield wipers are included with both trims as well. Overall, there aren't any major differences in exterior features for the PURE and LUXE models.
On the inside of the Q60, both of these trims offer the same front seats. The upholstery is a nice-quality leatherette. Both front seats feature 8-way power adjustments with manual lumbar adjustments. The shift knob and steering wheel are wrapped in leather. the front and rear get carpeted floor mats on both trims. Both models offer aluminum accents throughout the interior.
Standard interior features include power windows with the common one-touch operation. Both trim levels get the INFINITI Intelligent Key option with push-button starting. Also included are Valet Key and Trunk Lockout features. Every trim level comes with power locks and an auto-lock feature.
Retained accessory power means that the windows can be lowered even with a dead battery. This is not just a convenience feature, but a safety feature as well. INFINITI also equips every trim level with a battery-saving feature to negate accidental dead batteries when accessories are left on.
The PURE and LUXE have dual overhead map lights on the inside. They also have two cup holders up front and two more for the rear. Both sun visors provide illuminated mirrors. There are several options for small-item storage in both models. A storage area is located overhead of the driver's seat for items such as sunglasses. There are door pockets on both models. There are also pockets on the back of the front seats.
Both trims have dual driver-information displays. These are high-definition displays with an 8-inch screen on top and a 7-inch screen on the bottom. The trip computer offers multiple functions including an outside-temperature display. The steering wheel has tilting and telescoping options on every trim level.
All trims get cruise control with controls mounted right on the steering wheel for the driver's convenience. The LUXE and PURE models have Fine Vision electroluminescent gauges all around. Both offer BlueTooth, hands-free phone systems. The LUXE trim adds an automatic-dimming interior mirror with a HomeLink Transceiver.
The PURE model of the Q60 comes with a six-speaker audio system. There is a CD player, HD radio, MP3 player and speed-sensitive volume controls. There are two USB ports for connectivity and charging of smart devices. These are illuminated so they can easily be found in the dark. Bluetooth technology in the PURE model allows for streaming music wirelessly through the audio system. There are a few differences between the PURE and LUXE models when it comes to safety and security features. Both have the INFINITI Advanced Airbag System. Sensors let the system know if there is an occupant in the front passenger seat to determine if the bag should be deployed. The airbags are dual-stage bags.
Side curtain airbags are mounted on the roof. This gives some head protection to passengers in both the front and back. The front and second rows get 3-point seat belts. All models of the Q60 feature the LATCH system to securely attack child seats.
Both trim levels have a rear-view monitor for safety while in reverse. Both trims have a tire-pressure monitor that gives specific information on each of the four wheels. An advances Traction Control System makes for safer driving on all road conditions.
Every model is built with safety in mind. There is an emergency trunk release located on the inside of the storage compartment. The Zone Body Construction gives passengers a reinforced compartment and crumple zones are located in the front and rear of all models. There is also an engine immobilizer that shuts down the vehicle completely if it has been stolen. The Sport 400 model of the 2020 INFINITI Q60 was built for the ultimate in performance. This trim is still powered by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V-6 engine, but this time with more power. While the LUXE offers an impressive 300 horsepower, the Sport 400 bumps this all the way up to 400 horses. Armed with this information, easy to see where the model name comes from. The Sport 400 offers more torque as well, with a whopping 350 pounds-feet at RPMs of 1,600 to 5,200.
The Sport 400 has a massive boost in acceleration. This trim level gives owners every standard feature that was found on the LUXE models except where an upgrade has been made. On the outside, the Sport 400 adds some larger, 20-inch wheels. These aluminum-alloy sport wheels with a staggered design. This model comes sporting summer performance tires instead of the all-season models.
The exhaust tips are unique on the Sport 400 and feature a satin brushed finish. This model offers sports brake calipers that are painted red. On the inside of the Sport 400, the upholstery gets an upgrade. It now offers semi-aniline leather appointments.
2020 INFINITI Q60: Which Trim to Choose?
Choosing a trim level here largely depends on one major issue. That issue is whether a driver prioritizes sporty performance or would rather save a few bucks. The good news is, there isn't a huge jump in cost every time someone moves up a trim level. If speed and acceleration doesn't matter, then the LUXE model would be a fine choice. It provides all of the best features that the 2020 INFINITI Q60 has to offer.
The only major difference between the LUXE and the Sport 400 is the increase horsepower. And this is a serious increase with over 100 additional horses under the hood. If speed and performance matters, then there's no reason to settle for anything less than the Sport 400 trim level.
