Are You Considering a 2022 Lincoln Corsair? Here Are Some Reasons For and Against

The Lincoln Corsair is a luxury SUV that offers a pleasant experience. There are three trims, which are the Standard, Reserve, and Grand Touring. Depending on the trim selected, a few different powertrains may be available. As a Lincoln, this model looks refined and has many high-end features inside its cabin. Because of its style, amenities, capability, and technology, the 2022 Lincoln Corsair would be a very nice vehicle to drive around town.

What's New for 2022?

For the most part, the 2022 Lincoln Corsair remains unchanged in comparison with the 2021 model year. However, Lincoln has made some adjustments to the optional packages. For instance, the Luxury package is now optional on the Reserve and Grand Touring trims, and it comes with elements such as a 14-speaker sound system and a head-up display. The Elements Technology package can now be added onto the Grand Touring trim, and it'll provide upgrades like LED fog lamps, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, and a hands-free liftgate.

In addition, a few changes have been made to the exterior color choices. Ocean Drive Blue Metallic, Elite Blue, and Bronze Smoke are new to the lineup of choices.

Ten Reasons You May Like the 2022 Lincoln Corsair – The Pros

1. An Elegant Cabin

The Standard is the base trim of the Lincoln Corsair, and despite its first spot in the lineup, it feels very luxurious. Some of its standard components are heated front seats, a pinstripe aluminum interior trim, and a piano key shifter. Active noice control keeps things peaceful and quiet inside.

There are several available upgrades on the Standard, such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, and leather seats. These features become standard on the higher trims. On the Standard, the seats are covered in a material that the company calls Lincoln Soft Touch. It's a synthetic leather that looks sophisticated and is soft and supportive. Leather seats are standard on the other trims.

2. Multiple Engine Choices

Lincoln gives consumers three engines to think about. Two of them are turbocharged engines, and the other goes along with a plug-in hybrid system.

With the Standard and Reserve, a buyer would have the option to either get a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine or a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine. The smaller engine can deliver 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, which is more than acceptable. The larger engine can pump out even more, delivering 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

Then, the Grand Touring is exclusively available with a 2.5-liter engine that works with an electric motor. It has a net horsepower of 266, and obviously its main benefit would be the enhanced fuel efficiency that comes along with being a plug-in hybrid.

3. Find the Perfect Position

Available on the Lincoln Corsair are Perfect Position front seats. These can move in 24 different ways and have both heating and ventilation to provide year-round comfort. They even have five massage settings, which can do a great job of preventing fatigue and keeping people comfortable on long road trips.

4. Optimize Driving

This model has several different drive modes: Normal, Excite, Conserve, Slippery, and Deep Conditions. It's very simple to move from one mode to another, as all it takes is the turn of a knob in the front console. Once that knob has been turned, the vehicle makes the right adjustments so that it can handle different scenarios. The Grand Touring has Preserve EV and Pure EV drive modes as well.

If the SUV has all-wheel drive, then it can do an even better job of dealing with tough situations. It will make the right adjustments in order to maintain control. Since power can be sent to all four wheels instead of just the front two, the chances of slipping are greatly reduced.

5. Keeping Things Smooth

The Lincoln Corsair can minimize the ups and downs that one would inevitably come across while driving. It has an integral bush rear suspension that works to smooth things out, and it has an available adaptive suspension. This type of suspension constantly monitors the motion of the vehicle, including the motion of the suspension, steering, and braking. It gathers all of this information so that it can make adjustments at precisely the correct time. As a result, the ride can be exceptionally peaceful.

6. Actively Keeping People Safe

Lincoln has equipped this model with many driver-assist systems. Every Lincoln Corsair has automatic high beams in addition to Lincoln Co-Pilot360 technology. This safety suite comes with blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, pre-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane keeping. If the SUV ever encounters potential issues, it can warn the driver and be ready to take action if needed. It could potentially correct steering and braking to avoid an accident.

7. Technology Is Everywhere

In the center stack of the vehicle, there's an eight-inch LCD touchscreen. It comes along with a SYNC 3 interface and smartphone compatibility, and there are two USB ports and two USB smart charging USB ports. Navigation is optional on the Standard and included with the Reserve and Grand Touring. On the Standard, there's an additional 6.5-inch screen behind the steering wheel that provides the driver with useful information. That screen is expanded to one that measures 12.3 inches on the two higher trims.

SiriusXM is included across the lineup so that it's easier for passengers to stay entertained. The standard sound system consists of ten speakers and a subwoofer, while the advanced system comes with 14 speakers and HD Radio technology.

8. A Refined Exterior

On the outside of the Lincoln Corsair, there is a lot to appreciate. The LED headlamps and LED signature lamps are stunning, and in the back, there are LED taillamps. Available jeweled LED headlamps can be even more eye-catching. A beautiful panoramic vista roof is available, and this really lets the sun into the cabin. Adding to the style are a dual exhaust with polished tips as well as heated and auto-folding side mirrors.

The Lincoln Embrace system is quite welcoming. It engages when the vehicle senses that the key fob is approaching. (Presumably, this key fob would be held by the driver.) The system activates some lights and projects a Lincoln logo onto the ground as a kind of welcome mat.

9. Can Park Itself

On every trim, there's an available feature called Active Park Assist 2.0. This program allows the Lincoln Corsair to park itself. The driver just has to hold down the Active Park Assist button to engage this feature. The vehicle will be able to take care of the steering, braking, accelerating, and shifting in order to get itself into a parking spot.

10. Cargo Space

This SUV has what many would consider to be an ideal amount of cargo space. Behind its rear seat, it has about 28 cubic feet of storage space. If the rear seats are lowered, then that expands to more than 57 cubic feet.

The rear seats have a 60/40 split-fold configuration and can slide forward and back, so there is some flexibility in terms of how things are arranged. There's an available EasyFold rear seat back release function, too. In addition, there are multiple compartments throughout the cabin that can be used for smaller items.

Reasons You May Not Like the 2022 Lincoln Corsair – The Cons

1. Charging Takes Time

The Grand Touring is a good option for anyone who wants to conserve fuel. However, it does take time to get its battery charged. With a Level 1 charger, it takes about ten or eleven hours to get a full charge. A Level 2 charger does cut that time significantly, but it still takes about three to four hours. In comparison, some other electric vehicles can charge in less time than that.

2. Wireless Charging Is Only Optional

More and more devices are compatible with wireless charging. Unfortunately, wireless charging is not available at all on the Standard, and it's only an option on the Reserve and Grand Touring. Many non-luxury competitors are beginning to include wireless charging with their premium trims, so it's definitely noticeable that none of the Lincoln Corsair trims have this feature as a standard one.

3. Some High-End Features Are Missing

What was just said about wireless charging can be said about some other features. For instance, a heated steering wheel, 360-degree camera, heated rear seats, and the premium audio system are not standard on any Lincoln Corsair trim. With many other vehicles, in contrast, these are all included on the top-of-the-line trims.

How It Stacks Up to the Competition:

2022 Lincoln Corsair vs 2022 XC40

Volvo makes a compact SUV that's very upscale. Its XC40 is a compact model that has a lot to offer, especially in terms of luxury and technology.

That being said, the Volvo XC40 doesn't have the same type of power that the Corsair does. Its standard engine comes with 187 horsepower, and its more advanced one has about 250 horsepower. Remember that the Lincoln comes standard with 250 horsepower, and it only gets better from there. The difference between the two models in this department can be significant. The Volvo is also a bit smaller than the Lincoln is, and this may matter to some potential buyers.

2022 Lincoln Corsair vs 2022 Audi Q5

First of all, the Audi Q5 is significantly more expensive than the Lincoln Corsair is. It does have a plug-in hybrid version, but people should be prepared to pay a lot for this model. The Audi doesn't have as much cargo space as the Lincoln does, and its second-row leg room falls a touch short of what the Lincoln offers. Those who plan on packing their cabin will have to think about this.

Conclusion

If anyone is looking for a classy SUV, the Lincoln Corsair could be a smart choice. Its base-level trim is fairly affordable while still offering high-quality components. It's great that there are multiple powertrain options as well as advanced safety systems and high-end amenities. The Grand Touring provides an intriguing choice for those who want to take advantage of recent innovations in electric vehicles.
