The only downside is that, since there is only one trim level available on the 2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country, you only get one engine choice. Also, the infortainment system is not very user-friendly. It's a more minor gripe than the single engine choice, and there are not too many things to dislike about the V60 Cross Country.
That being said, this review will focus solely on the one trim level. We will go in-depth as to what kinds of features and specs you should expect to find on the 2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country. 2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country. What are the Options?
The 2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country is a single trim level vehicle. There are some optional packages and stand-alone features that can be equipped, and we will talk about how those function on the V60 Cross Country. It has a starting MSRP of $45,100 and goes up from there with the optional features that can be added on.
That being said, we will start off with the mechanical features found on the V60 Cross Country. The trim level is named the T5 AWD Momentum. That means this vehicle comes with Volvo's T5 engine, which is a 2.0-L 4-cylinder engine that gets 250 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive comes standard on this wagon. This powertrain is moderately fuel efficient for a vehicle in its class, getting a combined 25 mpg, with 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. There is a 60 gallon fuel capacity.
Regarding space and dimensions, the V60 Cross Country has 52.9 cubic feet of cargo space. It has seating for five individuals. Its total weight is 2,400 pounds. There is plenty of leg and head room in the front and rear, and broad-shouldered folks will not feel like they're elbowing the person next to them.
When you go to design your 2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country, you can choose from one solid paint trim (Ice White) or eight different metallic paint trims. If you select one of the metallic paint trims, you will pay an extra $645. Standard wheels come in the form of 18-inch 5-spoke black diamond cut alloys. Of course, you can opt to upgrade to bigger 19-inch 5-spoke diamond cut alloy wheels.
The interior has quite a few nice design options as well. When it comes to upholstery, you get standard charcoal leather , but you can also get blonde leather, amber leather, blonde city weave textile, charcoal ventilated nappa leather, blond ventilated nappa leather, amber ventilated nappa leather, or maroon brown ventilated nappa leather. All of these come with a charcoal interior. If you go for any of the ventilated seats, you get spoiled with a front seat backrest massage, linear lime deco inlays, a grocery bag holder, memory for the front passenger seat, front power seats and power cushion extensions, a tailored dashboard that is nothing short of stunning, interior high level illumination, 4-zone automatic climate control with CleanZone, and 4-way power lumbar support on the front seats. You can also add the Luxury Package or the Cross Country Pro Package. There is also an exterior styling kit, and the 19-inch wheels come standard.
On the outside, you can choose to add dual exhaust pipes for $285. The interior has gorgeous iron ore inlays, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel with uni-Deco inlays, and a leather-wrapped gearshift knob.
As far as packages go, there are several that can be equipped. First is the Heated Rear Seats and Heated Steering Wheel Package. This package costs $750 and gives you heated rear outboard seats and an individual three-level touch panel controls that passengers can easily control from the rear seat. The heated steering wheel is also a nice touch since it can help you keep your hands on the wheel while the weather is cold.
The Luxury Package costs $2,200 and adds a few nice luxury features onto the V60 Cross Country. A front seat back rest massage will massage your back during long road trips and provides an insane amount of comfort and relaxation. You can customize the massage functions to fit your own unique needs. This feature comes with the comfort seats that have Perforated Fine Nappa Leather upholstery. These front seats have power adjustable side support bolsters. These bolsters are easy to electronically adjust to give you the most comfortable fit. If you like to experience some dynamic driving, then these are definitely the seats for you. Again, getting this packages means that you can choose between the charcoal, amber, blond, and maroon brown ventilated leather upholstery seats. This fine leather is sustainably produced utilizing innovating low-dye techniques to crafts a strong, gorgeous finish.
Then there is the Advanced Package, which will cost you an extra $2,500. There are some nifty high pressure headlight cleaning. These headlights use high-pressure jets to clean out lingering dirt and dust from the headlights. This features gets activated alongside the vehicle's windshield washers. When this happens, the nozzles will pop out of the bumper and go to work cleaning out the headlights. This helps to save on washer fluid. There are also active bending lED headlights which are able to adapt to light patterns to create the best visibility for the driver in darker driving conditions. As you turn the vehicle, the headlights will bend to illuminate the road. The headlights will fade a bit when another vehicle is detected, but they will stay on high beams the rest of the time.
Also included in the Advanced Package is the Pilot Assist System, which is Volvo's driver assistance program that comes complete with adaptive cruise control. Adaptive cruise control comes in handy by allowing you to set a cruising speed and distance from the vehicle in front of you and will adjust accordingly. Distance Alert will kick in if you disable Advanced Cruise Control, and it will send you a warning if it detects that the V60 Cross Country gets too close to another vehicle.
A Surround-View Camera also gets added into the mix, which really stands out, making the standard rear view camera seem kind of basic (although that too still comes in handy). The 360-degree view you get around the vehicle helps you get out of tight spaces or back into parking spots with its four camera system. On the monitor, you can touch any of the quadrants that you want to see and will get a more detailed view. If you plan on hitching up a trailer, the rear view camera can function as a zoomed-in viewer of what is close to the vehicle.
Also, you get foglights in the front when you add this package. They really make it easier to see during heavy downfalls or dense fog. There is also a Graphical Head-Up Display (HUD, for short). This display gives you a lot of crucial automobile information. The screen helps you keep your head up and straight on so as to not be a distraction. The screen's brightness will adapt as needed to ensure that you are able to see the screen without straining your eyes or being blinded by the brightness. Also note that this system can be linked up with the power seats' memory setting so that you can easily adjust at will.
The final optional package that you can choose to equip is called the Cross Country Pro Package. This package gives you interior high trim illumination, which gives a nice ambiance to the cabin when things get dark outside. Even the tailgate has integrated lighting to help you while you are loading or unloading from the cargo area. The linear lime deco inlays come with this package, creating a cool retro vibe. There is a handy grocery bag holder for the cargo area. The passenger seat also gains memory setting functions. The front seat power cushion extensions are quite nice since they give a lot of extra thigh support. You can position your legs however you would like and still get plenty of thigh support from these cushions. The tailored dashboard looks quite chic with its charcoal and contrasting seams.
This package also includes 4-zone climate control with CleanZone. This automatic climate control system lets you control the temperature, air distribution, and blower speed from the center touchscreen. Outboard rear seat passengers can control their own settings from a touch control panel located tunnel console's rear side. The front seats are equipped with 4-way power-adjustable lumbar support, which means it can be horizontally and vertically adjusted. This package also adds the 19-inch 5-spoke diamond cut alloy wheels. These wheels are given a pretreatment base that helps to protect the wheels against corrosion.
Finally there is the exterior styling kit that comes along with this package. This gives the V60 Cross Country brushed stainless steel. The front and rear skid plates gets matched nicely with the scuff plates and dual split tailpipes. This brings the Volvo V60 Cross Country right on the verge of being a luxury vehicle.
Which Options to Choose?
There is only one trim level available for the 2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. Sure, the engine could be a bit stronger, but there are not too many other things to gripe about with this vehicle. The only thing is, if you want the best features it has to offer, you will need to spend more to get some optional packages.
So, which optional package should you get? The Advanced Package definitely gets our vote. Getting the active bending headlights and with the high pressure cleaners, foglights, and HUD are absolutely worth the extra $2,500. The 360-degree Surround View Camera System is also super helpful, although not really a necessity. Still, it is worth it to get this package. The Luxury and Cross Country Pro Packages are also nice if you can spare the extra expense, but they are not truly necessary.
